Preparation Steps
- Juice fresh lemons to yield about 1 cup of lemon juice. Set aside.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together lemon juice, sugar, chopped basil, and water until sugar is dissolved.
- Pour the mixture into a shallow pan and freeze for about 1 hour.
- After one hour, scrape the mixture with a fork to break up ice crystals. Freeze again and repeat every 30 minutes for 3 hours.
- Serve over vanilla ice cream if desired.
