Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Start by boiling 1/2 cup of water in a small pot. Once it reaches a rolling boil, remove from heat and steep a black tea bag or 1 teaspoon of loose leaf tea for 3-5 minutes. Allow it to cool to room temperature.
  2. While the tea cools, prepare the black tapioca pearls according to the package instructions, usually boiling them in water for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse under cold water, and soak in brown sugar for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Mash fresh raspberries until juicy and slightly chunky in a bowl. If using frozen, thaw and mash them to release their juice.
  4. In a large glass, pour the cooled black tea, followed by the raspberry mash. Stir gently to combine and drizzle in the brown sugar syrup from the boba, mixing until blended.
  5. Add a handful of ice cubes followed by cold sparkling water, gently stirring to combine without losing the effervescence.
  6. Spoon the prepared boba pearls on top and mix in black food coloring for a spooky touch. Garnish with a lemon/lime slice or fresh raspberries.
