Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large soup pot over medium heat.
  2. Add 1 pound of Italian sausage and brown it for 5–7 minutes.
  3. Sauté 1 medium diced onion for 3–4 minutes, then add 2 minced garlic cloves.
  4. Add 4 cups of potatoes and 4 cups of chicken broth with the spices.
  5. Simmer uncovered for 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  6. Stir in 1 cup of heavy cream and 1/2 cup of cheese for 5 minutes without boiling.
