- Brown the beef in a skillet over medium heat for 4-5 minutes, add onion, sauté for 3 minutes, then add garlic for 30 seconds.
- In a slow cooker, add potatoes, carrots, celery, and kidney beans. Pour in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Sprinkle spices and mix gently.
- Top with the browned beef mixture. Cover and cook on LOW for 7-8 hours or HIGH for 3-4 hours.
- After cooking, remove the bay leaf, taste and adjust seasoning. Serve hot with optional toppings.
