Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Tofu Katsu
  1. Drain the firm tofu and press it between paper towels for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cut the tofu into slabs about half an inch thick.
  3. Set up three shallow dishes for flour, water (or flax egg), and panko breadcrumbs.
  4. Dredge tofu in flour, dip in water, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  6. Fry each tofu piece for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  7. Remove fried tofu katsu and drain on paper towels for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Serve with tonkatsu sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
