Step-by-Step Instructions for Tofu Katsu
- Drain the firm tofu and press it between paper towels for about 15-20 minutes.
- Cut the tofu into slabs about half an inch thick.
- Set up three shallow dishes for flour, water (or flax egg), and panko breadcrumbs.
- Dredge tofu in flour, dip in water, and coat with panko breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Fry each tofu piece for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Remove fried tofu katsu and drain on paper towels for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve with tonkatsu sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
