Preparation Steps

  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and milk, then fold in chocolate chips to form a loose dough.
  5. Knead the dough gently on a floured surface about 5 to 6 times.
  6. Pat the dough into an 8-inch circle about 1 inch thick, then cut into 8 triangles.
  7. Refrigerate the cut scones for about 15 minutes.
  8. Brush the tops with an egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes until firm.
  9. Cool on a wire rack, then prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled scones and let set before serving.
