Preparation Steps

  3. Spread the thawed hashbrowns evenly across the bottom of your greased baking dish.
  4. Layer the cooked breakfast sausage evenly over the hashbrowns.
  5. Combine shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, then sprinkle half of this cheesy mixture over the sausage layer.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the large eggs, milk, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well blended.
  7. Carefully pour the egg mixture evenly across the layers of your casserole.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese mixture evenly over your casserole.
  9. Sprinkle optional diced bell peppers and onions atop the cheese layer, if desired.
  10. Transfer your casserole to the preheated oven, baking for 45-50 minutes until it’s bubbly and set.
  11. Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
