Pie Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, butter, sugar, and salt. Blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water until dough holds together. Shape into a disk, wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Roll out the chilled dough into a circle to fit your pie dish.
- In a large bowl, mix apple slices with sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Add food coloring to achieve the desired green hue.
- Transfer the rolled-out crust into the pie dish, fill with apple mixture, and dot with butter. Use excess dough to cut out decorations.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 425°F, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35-40 minutes until bubbling and golden.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes. Drizzle with caramel and add candy eyes before serving.
- Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature, pairing with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes
Chill the dough for a flaky crust. Use Granny Smith apples for the best balance of flavor. Watch the pie towards the end of baking to prevent over-browning.
