Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup Butter at room temperature
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar for sweetness and smooth texture
  • 1 large Egg acts as a binder
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour essential for structure
  • 1/2 cup Black Cocoa Powder for flavor and color
  • 1/4 cup Dutch Process Cocoa Powder can replace black cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt to enhance flavor
Royal Icing
  • 2 egg whites Royal Icing made from egg whites and powdered sugar

Method
 

Baking Instructions
  1. Cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated.
  3. Whisk together the flour, black cocoa, Dutch cocoa, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just incorporated.
  5. Knead the dough until it holds together and form a disc.
  6. Roll out the dough and cut out shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C (320°F) for about 10 minutes.
  8. Prepare the royal icing by beating egg whites and adding powdered sugar.
  9. Decorate the cooled cookies with the royal icing and allow to dry.
