Method
 

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. Warm the milk and butter until melted, then blend with dry ingredients.
  3. Add in egg and extracts, and beat until a sticky dough forms.
Knead Dough
  1. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.
  2. The dough should be smooth and elastic.
First Rise
  1. Grease the mixing bowl and place the dough inside, covering with a towel.
  2. Let rise for about 1 hour in a warm place.
Prepare Filling
  1. Blend unsalted butter, almond meal, sugar, egg, extracts, and salt until smooth.
Roll Out Dough
  1. Punch down the dough, transfer to a floured surface, and roll into a rectangle.
  2. Spread filling evenly over the dough.
Form Rolls
  1. Roll tightly into a log shape and slice into 12 pieces.
  2. Place in a baking pan and let rise again for 1 hour.
Bake & Frost
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for about 30 minutes.
  2. Allow to cool slightly, then frost and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
