  • 1 package Cream Cheese 8 oz; can use non-dairy cream cheese.
  • 4 cups Powdered Sugar Reduce if less sweetness is desired.
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract Almond extract can be used instead.
For the Crunch
  • 1 cup Chopped Pecans Can substitute with dried fruits or extra chocolate chips.
  • ½ cup Chocolate Chips Semi-sweet or milk; adjust quantity to taste.

Method
 

Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and one egg. Press the mixture into the bottom of the baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add the remaining eggs, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing well. Fold in the pecans and chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the filling over the crust and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is set but the center remains jiggle.
  6. Let cool in the pan on a wire rack for at least 15 minutes. Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
