Method

Step-by-Step Instructions for Halloween Hand Pies
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the refrigerated pie crusts on a lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out roughly 40 shapes resembling mummies.
  3. On half of the cut shapes, spoon 1-2 teaspoons of thick red berry jam in the center, leaving edges clear.
  4. Brush the edges of the filled shapes with egg wash, place another shape on top, and press down gently to seal.
  5. Brush the tops with remaining egg wash and make a few small holes for steam to escape.
  6. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden brown and flaky, and cool on wire racks for about 10 minutes.
  7. Mix powdered sugar with milk to create a drizzle, adjusting thickness as desired, and drizzle over cooled hand pies.
  8. Decorate with eyes using dyed frosting or chocolate for a festive touch.
