Filling
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese or Neufchâtel for lower-fat option
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese or sharp cheddar or Colby Jack
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder or fresh minced garlic
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder or finely chopped fresh onion
  • 1 tsp Salt kosher or sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper to taste
Main Ingredient
  • 8 whole Jalapenos deseeded for milder flavor
Wrapper
  • 1 package Pillsbury Crescent Rolls or puff pastry
  • 1 whole Egg for wash, or plant-based milk for vegan
Decoration
  • 12 pieces Candy Eyeballs or sliced black olives

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking tray lined with aluminum foil.
  2. Slice the jalapenos in half lengthwise and scoop out the seeds and pith.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Fill each jalapeno half with the cheesy mixture and set them on the baking tray.
  5. Wrap the filled jalapenos with strips of crescent roll dough, leaving gaps for eyes.
  6. Brush the wrapped jalapenos with beaten egg for a golden sheen.
  7. Bake for approximately 12 minutes until golden-brown and puffed up.
  8. Press candy eyeballs or sliced olives onto each mummy while warm.
