Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick spray.
  2. Melt 1 cup of butter and 4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar until well combined.
  4. Incorporate 4 large beaten eggs one at a time, and add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  5. Gently fold in 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon of salt until just combined.
  6. Fold in 1 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of milk chocolate M&M's, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  8. Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack.
  9. Prepare the frosting by melting 1 cup of milk chocolate chips until smooth.
