Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Soak panko breadcrumbs in milk for about 5 minutes.
  3. Sauté diced onion in butter for 3-5 minutes, then add minced garlic for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Combine ground beef, soaked breadcrumbs, sautéed onion and garlic, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and salt in a large bowl, mixing gently.
  5. Shape mixture into a loaf on the baking sheet and score the top lightly with a knife.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes, until browned.
  7. Prepare the topping sauce by mixing ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
  8. Spread topping sauce over the meatloaf and bake for an additional 30-35 minutes until internal temperature reaches 160°F (70°C).
  9. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
