Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray a 7x11 inch casserole dish.
  2. Open the can of biscuits and quarter each piece. Distribute half into the baking dish and bake for 10-11 minutes.
  3. While the biscuits are baking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add the ground sausage and cook for 5-7 minutes until browned.
  4. Sprinkle in flour, salt, and pepper into the cooked sausage, stirring for 1 minute. Gradually add 2 cups of milk while stirring to avoid lumps. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 3-4 minutes until thick.
  5. Pour the gravy over the baked biscuits. Add the remaining biscuit quarters on top.
  6. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 13-17 minutes, brushing the tops of the biscuits with melted butter during the last few minutes.
  7. Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving in generous portions.
