Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Salmon Piccata
  1. Pat the salmon filets dry with a paper towel. Dredge each filet in a mixture of flour, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil and unsalted butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the salmon filets and cook for about 4 minutes per side.
  3. Reduce heat and add remaining butter to the skillet. Once melted, add minced shallots and garlic; sauté for about 1 minute.
  4. Stir in capers, lemon juice, and chicken broth. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing sauce to reduce and thicken.
  5. Return cooked salmon to the skillet and coat with the sauce. Warm through for an additional minute.
