  • 3 Mashed Bananas About 3 large bananas enhances flavor and moisture.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Always choose pure vanilla extract for best quality.

  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda Acts as a leavening agent.
For the Browned Butter Frosting
  • 1/2 cup Butter When browned, lends a nutty richness.
  • 2 cups Powdered Sugar Sift for a smoother finish.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Stick with pure vanilla for the best results.
  • 1/4 cup Half and Half Substitute milk for a lighter option.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Jelly roll pan
  • Saucepan

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10x15 jelly roll pan with butter or cooking spray, then lightly flour the surface.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, sour cream, softened butter, and eggs. Blend until creamy and well-incorporated, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Stir in the mashed bananas and pure vanilla extract until just combined.
  4. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add to wet ingredients, folding gently until no dry flour patches remain.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 18-22 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  6. For the frosting, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until it turns a rich amber color. Remove from heat and whisk in powdered sugar, vanilla, and half-and-half.
  7. Once bars have cooled slightly, spread the browned butter frosting over the tops. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
