  • 1 cup Brown Sugar Can be substituted with honey or maple syrup.
  • 1 tablespoon Spicy Brown Mustard Yellow mustard is a viable alternative but will change the flavor.
  • 1 cup Dr. Pepper Essential for this glaze.
  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar White wine vinegar can be used as a substitute.
  • 10 whole Whole Cloves Optional if unavailable.
Ham Ingredients
  • 1 15-18 pound Bone-In Ham Boneless hams may affect cooking time.

Equipment

  • Roasting pan
  • aluminum foil
  • Saucepan
  • Meat Thermometer
  • Sharp knife

Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Gather tools: a sharp knife for scoring the ham, a roasting pan for baking, and aluminum foil.
  2. Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/8 inch deep, and insert whole cloves into the intersections.
  3. Place the ham in the roasting pan, cover loosely with aluminum foil, and bake for approximately 2 to 2.5 hours until it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
  4. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, spicy brown mustard, apple cider vinegar, and Dr. Pepper. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently until it bubbles, then simmer for about 15 minutes until thickened.
  5. After 2 hours, remove the foil and brush the glaze over the ham, reapplying every 20 minutes for the next hour.
  6. Once glossy and cooked for a total of about 3 hours, let the ham rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
