Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in molasses and milk, beat until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
